In the Name of Allah, the All-Beneficent, the All-Merciful.
May Allah bless Muhammad and his Family and damn their enemies.
His Eminence, Sheikh al-Habib, issued the following statement:
The cowardly, terrorist attack that took place recently in a Shi’a mosque in Herat, Afghanistan, that claimed the lives of 7 worshippers – including one child – and left many more injured, is further proof of what we have been saying for many years:
The terrorist attacks will not stop if the world does not take a serious stand against ‘Sunnism’ and its continued existence because this faith’s heritage harbours beliefs that encourage violence and murder against all those who disagree with it.
We do not say that all ‘Sunnis’ are terrorists. Many – and perhaps most – are peaceful members of society. What we do say, however, is that the issue lies within the faith itself. The deeper a ‘Sunni’ person digs into their sect’s beliefs, and the more they try to adhere to it to the letter, the more likely it is they would be transformed into an aggressive and intolerant individual that cannot accept others, or live with them peacefully. This is indeed a very well known phenomenon among the more strict ‘Sunnis’, and only those who wish to turn a blind eye to the truth would deny it.
As a result, horrific terrorist attacks continue regardless of how much effort goes worldwide into dissolving and eradicating terrorist organisations. If the world does not move towards dissolving the ‘Sunni’ faith itself and eradicating it from existence, the bloodshed will continue.
We ask Allah to grant our martyrs His mercy, His ever-lasting life and most esteemed positions in Paradise, alongside the Master of the Messengers and his Pure Household (peace be upon them all). As for the murderous terrorists, we ask that He brings down disgrace, shame, and suffering upon them in this life and the next.
