In the Name of Allah, the All-Beneficent, the All-Merciful.
May Allah bless Muhammad and his Family and damn their enemies.
The notorious Indian security forces in the city of Srinagar, in the divisions of Jammu and Kashmir, has assaulted Shi’a Muslims who participated in the revival of the commemoration of the Master of the Free and the revolutionary, Imam Hussain the Martyr (upon whom is Allah’s blessings and peace) during the Days of Ashura.
This act was an execution of a continuous, oppressive policy that aims to restrain Hussaini appearances and rituals for three decades. While this policy intensifies and eases according to the circumstances, it has dramatically intensified in recent times.
When the news reached Sheikh al-Habib, and when he viewed the video clips in which the horrid suppression and maltreatment can be seen performed against the mourners of Hussain, as they cry: “I am at your service, O Hussain.” He expressed his severe anger and strongly condemned what the occupying Indian authority had committed.
Moreover, he urged the believing Indians to persist in their challenge to this oppressive policy and to insist on reviving the rituals of Abu Abdillah al-Hussain (peace be upon him) to break all restraints that have been imposed upon freedom of belief and religious practice.
His Eminence urged activists to address this issue with international human rights organisations to lay pressure upon the Indian government and reveal its violations of human rights in every international assembly to which one can reach.
