QUESTION:

ANSWER:
In the Name of Allah, the All-Beneficent, the All-Merciful.
May Allah bless Muhammad and his Family and damn their enemies.
Certainly, this notion is deceiving, as it encourages the nation to persist in its falsehood and indulge in the hope of being eventually saved in the Hereafter. There is a narration by the holy Prophet (peace be upon him and his pure family) upon whom there is a consensus on its reliability. It says:
My nation will be divided into 73 sects. All of them will be in Hellfire except for one
This proves that apart from one sect, all other sects attributed to the religion of Islam will be doomed to Hellfire; their followers will not even smell the fragrance of Paradise, let alone enter it.The hereafter is eternal. The destiny of an individual will either be in Hellfire or Paradise, in where they will eternally live.
However, temporary torment takes place in the world of Barzakh, where Shias who have committed great sins might be temporarily punished. In the hereafter, however, those Shias who have conformed to the genuine Islamic beliefs without any distortion or falsification, will be granted the intercession of Muhammad and his pure family (peace be upon them) and dwell in Paradise.
Those who have not reached the truth and are not aware of their ignorance, from amongst the opponents of Ahlul-Bayt (peace be upon them), will be re-trialled in the Hereafter, after which some will go to Paradise while others to Hell.
