In the Name of Allah, the All-Beneficent, the All-Merciful.
May Allah bless Muhammad and his Family and damn their enemies.
His Eminence, Sheikh al-Habib, congratulates the proud Iraqi people on the adoption of Eid al-Ghadir al-Aghar as an official holiday in Iraq, and appreciates all the noteworthy efforts that were undertaken to confirm the Prophet’s (peace be upon him and his household) appointment of our master, Ali, the Commander of the Faithful (prayers and peace upon him), as his legitimate successor and heir, and the invalidation of the so-called caliphate of the three tyrants, Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman (God’s curses upon them).
His Eminence calls for the continuation of the efforts aimed at bringing an end to all that is deemed disrespectful to the pure Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), including the many streets and areas in Iraq that bear the names of their enemies and killers, or the statues erected in their honour, and even the government approved school curricula which contain material expressing respect for these criminals and sing their praises. All of that must be brought to an end because – at the very least – there is no national consensus regarding these figures. By doing so, this great nation may receive more of God’s blessings while being safeguarded against his wrath, and as a result enjoy the many boons that shall descend upon them and afford them a life of progress, prosperity, and dignity, God willing.
