Is it permissible to join a congregational prayer led by a ‘Sunni’? 834 469 The Office Of His Eminence Sheikh al-Habib

QUESTION:

I have several questions:

Q.1 Are we allowed to join congregational prayers led by a ‘Sunni’ cleric?

Q.2 Is a Shi’a individual allowed to marry a ‘Sunni,’

Q3. Are we allowed to be friends with them

Q4. Can we pray in their mosques?

ANSWER:

In the Name of Allah, the All-Beneficent, the All-Merciful.
May Allah bless Muhammad and his Family and damn their enemies.

Q1. It is not permissible.

Q2. It is permissible for a Shi’a man to marry a ‘Sunni’ woman. However, It is not acceptable to marry a Nasibi (one who harbors hate towards Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them)). It is important to attempt to guide the ‘Sunni’ person whom you have married.

Q3. It is permissible to make friends with a ‘Sunni.’

Q4. It is permissible to pray in their mosques individually, as long as praying in their mosques does not lead to the people of falsehood appearing greater in number or if it involves cooperating in sin, transgression, and innovation.
