May Allah bless Muhammad and his Family and damn their enemies.

His Eminence follows the case of the young Kuwaiti believer with deep concern and worry

His Eminence is following the case of the young Kuwaiti believer with great interest, and he is deeply concerned for his well being. The young man, known as Abdullah al-Shatti, is walking on foot through the Kuwaiti desert to reach the shrine of the Master of Martyrs, Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), for the sacred Arba’een pilgrimage after 5 years of persecution by the Kuwaiti authorities who deliberately infringed on his basic human rights by withdrawing his passport and placing him under strict conditions for years without any legal cause.

His Eminence calls on the government to be wiser and to cease their relentless curtailment of people’s freedoms, especially those who wish to practise their religious rituals in peace, and he warns that continued restriction of people’s freedoms will have dire consequences in the foreseeable future. His Eminence also calls on the Iraqi government to ensure and facilitate this young man’s entry into Iraq so that he may perform the sacred pilgrimage, reminding the authorities that it is their ethical duty to welcome the visitors of Abi Abdullah al-Hussain (peace be upon him), and that it is their duty to treat those who arrive with honour and respect.

Context: Clips of Abdullah al-Shatti have spread on social media in the Middle East, in which he, while walking on foot through the desert, tearfully described his mistreatment at the hands of the Kuwaiti regime, and how he was prevented for 5 years from performing the Arba’een pilgrimage.
