QUESTION:
I have an important question that was asked to me by a Sunni person, and I hope you can reply to me as fast as you can: What was the response of Imam Ali (may peace be upon him) to the crime committed by Khalid, son of Walid (may Allah’s curse be upon him), in which he killed the Prophet’s companion Malik, son of Nuwayra, and his commitment of adultery with his wife? And where was he during this period? Didn’t he defend the weaker ones – he, who doesn’t fear anybody besides Allah?
It is important that you reply to me, Eminent Sheikh. We will be waiting.
Abdullah from Kuwait.
ANSWER:
In the Name of Allah, the All-Beneficent, the All-Merciful.
May Allah bless Muhammad and his Family and damn their enemies.
After consulting the Sheikh, he said that despite that our Master, the Commander of the Believers (may Allah’s blessings be upon him), was besieged after the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s blessings be upon him and his family), he still confronted Khalid, son of Walid (may Allah curse him), when he met him, and he rebuked him for his wicked crime in killing Malik, son of Nuwayra (may Allah be pleased with him), and defiling his honour and causing further pain to him and his wife by committing forced adultery with his wife.
Once he said the following to him:
O son of the stinking woman! Do you know the truth from falsehood?! O son of those who apostatized from Islam! Woe to you! Do you believe me to be Malik, son of Nuwayra, whom you killed and had intercourse with his wife?! O, Khalid, you have come to me with your weak mentality, and gloomy face, and arrogance!? By Allah, if I had stretched out my sword against you and those bastards of yours, then I would have satisfied the hunger of the hyenas and the grey wolves with your flesh!
