QUESTION:
If you were alive during the era of the Prophet (may Allah blessings be upon him and his Family), would you have dared to curse his wife in front of him?
The lover of Hassan and Hussain.
ANSWER:
In the Name of Allah, the All-Beneficent, the All-Merciful.
May Allah bless Muhammad and his Family and damn their enemies.
After the revelation of Surat al-Tahrim, which announced the condemnation of Allah (Exalted is He) for Aisha and Hafsa from above the Seven Heavens, the answer is, with all confirmation:
Yes.
The Great Messenger (may Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family) is not biased to anyone in the matter of the Religion of Allah, even if they may be his wife. We are on his methodology, by the will of Allah (Exalted is He).
Allah (the Exalted) said:
You will not find a people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, who show affection to the one who opposes Allah and His Messenger, even if they were their fathers, or their sons, or their brothers, or their clans. Those are the ones whom He has written in their hearts faith and supported (them with) a Spirit from Himself, and whom He will make them enter gardens under which rivers flow, abiding therein. Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. Those are the Party of Allah. Alas, indeed, the Party of Allah are the successful ones.
(Qur’an 58:23)
Family relations have no place here because the matter is one of truth and falsehood. If we were to follow this logic of family relations, then we are obliged to refrain from cursing or condemning Abu Lahab, with the argument that he was the uncle of the Prophet (may Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family) and rejoiced for his birth to the point that he freed his maid, Thuayba, for his sake. How will you answer the question: If you were alive at the time of the Prophet (may Allah’s blessings be upon him and his Family), would you have dared to curse his uncle in front of him?
You would have no answer except for: After the revelation of Surat al-Masad, which announced the condemnation of Allah (Exalted is He) for Abu Lahab from above the Seven Heavens, the answer is, with all confirmation:
Yes.
You would have given the same answer to the question: If you were alive at the time of Prophet Noah (peace be upon him), would you have dared to curse his wife in front of him? And if you were alive at the time of Prophet Lot (peace be upon him), would you have dared to curse his wife in front of him?
